An Introduction to Filbert

Filbert is a completely fictional character working in a completely fictional engineering office.  He is "very experienced" which means the majority of the employees think that Filbert is a dinosaur.  Filbert often wonders if it isn't true.  You can find more on Filbert here, Filbert's Stories (coming soon).

Heard at the espresso machine (the water cooler isn't cool anymore and the coffee pot was too hot so ya gotta buy a $3 latte)

I heard that clients keep asking for Filbert to work on lots of jobs.  But he's a dinosaur.  He doesn't network and he doesn't tweet.  He doesn't work in an open air cubicle so that he can be in tune with the work; instead he goes into his dungeon of an office and sometimes he even closes the door.  Why, I was in a project strategy meeting the other day and he chimed in with "why don't we just put in the valves and piping per this drawing"...can you imagine?

Filbert's thoughts on office structure

We have a VP, an MOP and an MOE.  I think that we're missing a MOO.

Filbert on technology

Technology is a wonderful thing.  You can look up several reference documents and procedures at the same time and very quickly.  You might even get part of it read before the project gets done.

Filbert's management philosophy

Plan the job, work the job, finish the job and do it right.  Am I missing something?

Filbert's Blog

Filbert is looking for ghost writer to help him with his blog but it might be easier to work with the ghost after he is one himself.  Find his blog here at...filbertisanut.blogspot.com.
