About the images on Joe Pivetti's Personal Website
Images on this site include photos, logos and doodles. Here
is a little bit on how these were made for the site.
About the JoePivetti.com photos
There isn't a lot to say about putting snapshots on the internet
other than I cropped and resized them with software included in
Windows (Microsoft Office Picture Manager) or sometimes I did the
same with MS Paint. I resized the photos to 500 pixels (wide
or high, whichever made for a smaller image) so that they fit in
two columns and so that they load fast and don't take up much host
storage space. The photos look okay at this size but can't
really be pirated away as the full resolution isn't there.
About the JoePivetti.com logos
When it comes to graphics I prefer a pencil and paper but that
doesn't make for the best images when scaled down to a 100 to 200
pixels for a corner page logo so I had to do a bit of graphic
design. There are free CAD programs available on the
internet but it's much easier to make a square grid in Excel and
use the simple graphic elements provided by Office software.
From Excel I just copied and pasted to a freeware program with
layers capability named Artweaver Free (this is easier than using
Paintshop of Photoshop). I saved to various formats and I
guess that the smallest and simplest is GIF which also allows for
transparent background (so you can put it on any color background
and only the image is visible - this is nice unless you just want
a simple white or colored canvas).
About the JoePivett.com doodles
I am having a hard time remembering how I doodled up the Joe
Spaghetti images. I think that I roughed them out on the
back of a napkin and then traced them with a digitizer.
Unfortunately, I lost many of the electronic files and had to scan
some from a printout where images were smaller than a 10 cent
postage stamp.
